A good cut holds up for weeks when your home routine pulls its weight. Neglect it and the shape falls apart by week two. Here is what works for most guys we see in the chair.
Wash two or three times a week
Daily shampoo strips the oils your scalp needs. Past three days, oil and product crowd the follicle. Twice a week is the sweet spot for most hair types. On off days, rinse with water. Skip sulfate shampoos. They dry hair faster, especially from November to March when Brampton air pulls moisture out of everything.
Condition every time
Thirty seconds of conditioner is the highest-return habit in hair care. It rebuilds what shampoo strips. It fixes frizz, stiffness, and dry ends. Leave it in for a minute before you rinse. Well-conditioned hair holds its shape longer and styles faster in the morning.
Protect from heat and cold
Use a heat protectant if you blow-dry or flat-iron. A leave-in keeps ends from splitting in dry winter air. Wear a hat in the cold. These habits stop damage before it starts.
Feed your hair
Hair grows from what you feed it. Protein. Omega-3s. Biotin. Water. Clients who drink enough water need less styling product to get the look they want. Results show up over weeks, not days, but they stick.
Trim every three to four weeks
Even if you are growing it out. Short trims stop damage from climbing the strand. Ten minutes in the chair keeps the shape clean and the length moving.
