Your Kid's First Haircut

What to expect at the shop and how to prep so the first cut goes well.

A kid's first haircut is a moment. It can also be a meltdown. A little prep makes the difference between photos and tears.

Before you come in

Talk about it like a fun trip. Show photos or videos of other kids at the barber. Bring a comfort toy if they have one. Tell us at booking if noises bother them. We will use quieter clippers or let them sit on your lap during the cut.

What happens at the shop

We greet you, introduce the chair and the barber, and walk through what you want. Shape, length, anything to keep or leave. If your kid has curls, we can cut to preserve them. If they want to match dad, we can do that too.

The cut itself runs fifteen to twenty minutes. Parents stand within arm’s reach the whole time. When it is done, we style, take a photo if you want, and send them off with a sticker and a small treat.

What makes the shop kid-friendly

Barbers with kids of their own. Chairs built for small frames. Patience for fidgeting. If today is not the day, come back next week. We will not rush it.

Book their first cut through Squire when they are ready.
